AI & Music powered by S+T+ARTS
Perfect for…
People who think that they need a PhD to work with music and AI. (Spoiler: you don’t).
Why’s it interesting?
Since 2009, Rebecca Fiebrink has been working to make technology more accessible. The project she developed while studying for her PhD, The Wekinator, remains revolutionary 15 years on: a tool that lets anyone work with AI without having to learn any programming languages.
Now Professor of Creative Computing at the University of the Arts London, she’s continued to champion accessibility, inclusivity and participation, whether curating online courses on machine learning or developing new technologies for disabled people.
At Sónar+D 2025, we’ve invited her to host a special session which encourages participants from all kinds of backgrounds to imagine what kind of music AI they’d like to make themselves. Whether you’re a musician, designer, maker, visual artist, or simply curious about music and AI, this session is for you.
You’ll like this if you like…
Thinking of new ways to make music, making technology work for you, doodling, brainstorming, daydreaming, blue-sky thinking.
