On Friday, we open the day’s programme at SonarÀgora by turning it into a space for collective reflection on corrent challenges – through the lens of culture.

At a time of global turbulence – marked  by international conflicts, with a particular focus on the gravity of the genocide in Palestine, and by profound social transformations – we need to start a conversation about the responsibility that culture can and must take on. In a context where the creative industries are under economic pressure and structural precarity driven by corporate interests, we believe it is essential to place culture at the centre of social and political debate. This forum proposes a shared platform to imagine possible paths forward for the cultural sector, focusing on what we can build, care for, and transform in the present.

This gathering is inspired by the values that have defined Sónar’s 32-year history: a common space that extends from Barcelona to the rest of the world, grounded in respect, listening, and plurality. A space where diverse voices come together to share thought, imagination, and hope. We call on artists, thinkers, and cultural professionals to join an honest and constructive dialogue from multiple perspectives, with the conviction that culture has been – and must continue to be – a force for transformation.
