It's not every day that you get to play at SonarClub, let alone warm up for The Prodigy. But if anyone is ready for the moment, then it’s Ático Corp. & R.I.P. Bestia, as they prove beyond all doubt on SonarMix 077. It’s a preview for their live set at Sónar 2026, which will centre on “the tracks we’ve been releasing since we launched our label UFC (Un Futuro Creíble - which translates to A Believable Future) in 2020: breakbeat, trance, rave and acid, with a strong ‘90s influence”.
Recorded entirely on vinyl - “the format we’ve championed since we started the label” - this session by the duo from Écija (close to Seville) has a unique distinction: it’s actually recorded as two mini-mixes. The first, by Ático Corp., includes “various tracks from the past years in various styles (...) by both Spanish (Baldo and Colombo) and international producers”. On his side, R.I.P. Bestia goes for “influences that range from one of the most original remixes in history” (James Holden’s version of ‘Planet 7’) to tracks that “would end up defining techno” (Underworld’s ‘Rez’) without forgetting “current productions with a glimmer of hope” like ‘Acid Bits’ by Guau & Bowser and ‘Panacea’ by The MFA.
Welcome back to 90s rave culture.
