Few genres are as deeply tied to a place as garage is to the UK. But the fast, bouncy, bass-heavy sound is starting to catch on with curious artists from other scenes, and Catalan artist Dokku is a prime example.

For the young artist from Olot (Girona), bringing the sound of his Garage Kidds crew to Sónar in 2025 was a proper bucket list moment. “I’ve got no words to describe how beautiful and fun it was, especially getting to share the moment with my Garage Kidds family.”

And he wasn’t alone. During his Saturday set at Sónar by Night, the revamped SonarCar stage meant Dokku was surrounded by his trusty crew, plus plenty of fans. “I had an incredible time. I was flowing, enjoying every track. I wasn’t sure how the crowd would take to UK garage, but the connection was unreal.”

Kicking off with Bob Sinclar’s “Save Our Soul” - a cheeky nod to a classic anthem, he quicklymoved on to bouncing beats and tight basslines, with breaks making an early appearance -  Oppidan’s gem ‘WAKE AND BREAK’. He also dropped the remix that’s pushed him into the spotlight recently, Skrillex & Habstrakt’s ‘Chicken Soup’, KNOTT’s raw dubstep cut ‘Bodied’, the feel-good bounce of Soul Mass Transit System’s ‘Bomb Edit’, plus the summery vibes of Interplanetary Criminal’s ‘Slow Burner’. And of course he found room for his own calling card: weaving Catalan lyrics into his set, as you can hear on his own track ‘Hattori’ (featuring Gior Di).

It was still early, but the energy at SonarCar felt like a peak-time set, and Dokku had plenty to do with that. “I felt like the crowd was loving it just as much as I was.”
