Sónar by Night 2023 is a celebration of electronic music in its totality. A 30th anniversary party that runs from sunset to sunrise, across four stages with spectacular live shows, cutting-edge club music from across the world, and some of the biggest DJs around.

A rare opportunity to see HOLO, Eric Prydz’s huge immersive spectacle

Eric Prydz returns to Sónar this year with a very special performance for the festival’s 30th anniversary. The Swedish producer brings his acclaimed HOLO show to Spain for the first time, taking the audience on an immersive three-dimensional journey through galaxies, oceans and new realities. All set to the sound of the progressive house he creates as Eric Prydz, Pryda, Cirez D, and Tonja Holma. This will be one of the only opportunities to see HOLO anywhere this year, so don’t miss out. 

The return of Aphex Twin 

Aphex Twin is the artist that every other artist at Sónar 2023 wants to see. Richard D. James has had an outsized influence on dance music and electronic music culture for over three decades, and he’s back on tour this summer, with a brand new AV show. The fourth of his nine stops will be Sonar 2023, where he’ll headline SonarClub, the biggest stage at Sónar by Night.

A homecoming for Bad Gyal, now a global superstar

It's been a long time since 2017, when Bad Gyal made her Sónar debut at the small SonarXS stage at Sónar by Day. It was the start of a career that’s taken her around the world and back again, and now, in 2023, she’ll headline SonarPub by Thunder Bitch on Saturday night. For her debut at Sónar by Night, she’ll be premiering tracks from her hotly anticipated debut album, demonstrating why she’s a global idol: one whose music has provided the soundtrack for an entire generation. 

The biggest names in electronic music… 

Sónar by Night is where the biggest names in electronic music today come to play. This year in Fira Gran Via, there lineup ranges from Fever Ray’s visionary pop music to BICEP’s stadium-sized electronica. The DJ booth will be manned by some of the biggest stars around: Peggy Gou, Solomun, Amelie Lens, Honey Dijon, Mochakk, Richie Hawtin, Carista, CC:DISCO!, Tiga b2b Cora Novoa, Alizzz, ISAbella b2b Roza Terenzi, Chloé Caillet, Âme b2b Marcel Dettmann (for a 5-hour extended set), and Angel Molina, who’s been charged with closing the 30th Anniversary celebrations.  

…and the best emerging Spanish artists at SonarCar by TOUS 

This year the Saturday night programme for the circular SonarCar by TOUS stage has been changed, with a special showcase dedicated to emerging Spanish artists of all styles and flavours. Spanish queer icon Samantha Hudson returns - after a riotous appearance at Sónar by Day last year - with her new live set ‘AOVE Black Label’ and provocative reggaeton icon La Zowi premieres her new album ‘La Reina del Sur’. In addition, underground producer Rusowsky appears for a DJ set, alongside hardcore-revivalist Parkineos and Oro Jondo who mixes ‘dark and fun’ techno with turn of the century hits. There’s also room for Gen-Z antihero Orslok, and a closing set from Granada’s Mareo: Chico Blanco b2b 8kitoo, who mix classic 90s house with all kinds of modern club styles.   

The new faces of hip-hop and rap

Rhymesayers, street poets and beatmakers have long had a presence at Sónar by Night, and this year is no exception. Three of hip-hop’s freshest voices offer new perspectives on the genre in 2023.  Little Simz’s back-to-basics show combines social commentary and personal narratives with her incredible stage presence. One of the genre’s most inventive artists, Cakes Da Killa, makes an overdue debut in Spain, offering a Black, queer vision of rap. And rising star Shygirl  makes her Sónar debut, with a provocative and tender live show that combines rap, r&b, pop and club music.  

SonarLab by Resident Advisor, the home of alternative dance music

And finally, SonarLab by Resident Advisor is where you’ll find club music that looks beyond typical house and techno at Sónar by Night. From Koreless’s creative take on ambient trance to Aquarian’s supercharged breakbeat, and from Wata Igarashi’s psychedelic deep techno DJ Marky & MC GQ classic drum’n’bass. And SHERELLE x Kode9’s eagerly-awaited set of footwork, juke and other hyperspeed club music, plus a trip to Detroit courtesy of  DJ Holographic b2b DJ Minx.
