This year, alongside the music, you’ll find something different at Sónar: the opportunity to take part in a genuine scientific study… and win prizes while doing so. All in under 60 seconds.
The Lucky Pulse is an experiment run by Cotec’s Behavioural Economics Lab (LEC), in collaboration with the University of Seville, Carlos III University of Madrid and Loyola Andalucía University. Its aim is to investigate how we make everyday decisions, and to do so it needs something that we have plenty of at Sónar has plenty of: diverse, curious people who are up for trying new things. If you decide to take part, we promise it’ll be quick, anonymous and simple (you can do it all on your phone in under a minute).

Live science, on a festival scale
Studies on human behaviour are usually carried out in university labs, in small groups and under tightly controlled conditions. The Lucky Pulse flips the script and takes the research onto the dancefloor: your answers, together with those of thousands of attendees, will make up a unique dataset whose analysis could end up in an international scientific publication. For a few minutes, Sónar becomes the biggest laboratory in Barcelona.
Designed not to interrupt your festival experience
Don’t worry: you’re here to enjoy Sónar, not to fill in forms. This isn’t a survey. There are no clipboards and no awkward questions. It’s as simple as this:
- Quick. Scan a QR code, open a web app and you’re done. The whole thing takes less than 60 seconds.
- Rewarding. You’ll receive a financial reward for taking part and you’ll be automatically entered into a prize draw for 2x SonarPass+D for Sónar 2027.
How to take part
The Lucky Pulse will be present all three days of the festival. Just head to the stand or look out for our interviewers - they’ll be easy to spot. In under a minute, your responses will become part of a real scientific study. And so will your time at Sónar 2026.
