Studying jazz percussion and musical composition at the Berklee College of Music in New York wasn’t supposed to lead Ela Minus to make music with synthesisers... but that didn't matter to the Colombian artist. A singer, songwriter, producer, and performer with a deep passion for synths, Minus introduced herself to the world in the midst of the pandemic with acts of rebellion, a mini album with equal importance given to lyrics, melodies and production. Impressed by her work, Caribou’s Dan Snaith invited her to open for him on his North American tour, before she hooked up with DJ Python (who’ll also appear at Sónar 2024 with Natural Wonder Beauty Concept) for the ♡ EP. In 2024, as an increasingly assured and mature producer and performer, she’ll debut at Sónar in advance of a yet-to-be-announced second album.
