Who knows what will happen when the UK dance music provocateurs bring brand-new live show to Barcelona

The UK has a long history of producing enigmatic, provocative dance music artists. And while the comparisons between Two Shell and the likes of Burial and The KLF write themselves, the producer/DJ duo are really in a league of their own.

It all began quietly, with a pair of cult yet futuristic releases on legendary Bristol label Livity Sound. Then, in 2022, the irresistibly infectious Home blasted them into the ears and consciousness of clubbers around the world. And that’s when things started to get really weird. Masked and costumed imitators were sent to play sets that may or may not have been pre-recorded. Journalists were sent different versions of the same album for review, as cryptic interviews - conducted online or with people who clearly weren’t Two Shell - added an extra layer of confusion. All the while, the pair used their shape-shifting website to feed fans a steady stream of exclusives, from disappearing downloads to one-off pen drives embedded inside rocks.

You could see this all as distraction, if the music itself wasn’t so good. Rooted in grime, garage and UK rave culture, this is club music for the permanently-online generation: hyperactive, unpredictable, and packed with outrageous sample lifts. Coming off their most complete shows to date, it’s anyone’s guess what they’ll do at Sónar 2026. One thing’s for sure: you’ll want to be there.
