These 30 names are a first glimpse of a programme still in the making. The final line-up will feature over 80 acts and activities that embody the enduring spirit of Sónar: a celebration of innovation and creativity in electronic music and beyond.

Sónar reborns in 2027

As reflected in this year’s visual campaign, Sónar embarks on a new chapter in 2027, reclaiming its urban, festive and radical character and reconnecting with its founding DNA.

Sónar by Day will reclaim its identity and return to central Barcelona, where it was born in 1994, thereby restoring its connection with the city and its seafront. It will offer the most intimate, welcoming version of the festival, true to what has been its essence throughout history: a boutique format that encourages the discovery of new artists and cultural proposals, bringing artists and audiences together in shared spaces.

What’s more, the Sónar by Day experience is inseparable from combining the musical performances with the activities of Sónar+D, the brain and laboratory of Sónar. In 2027, the same space that hosts Sónar’s daytime music programme will be the space where technological creativity meets culture, research and critical thinking, connecting, as every year, artists, researchers, innovators and institutions to explore how technology transforms the way we create, communicate and imagine the world.

Sónar by Night will also return to its classic format of two nights and four stages, embracing what audiences call for most. It will take place at Fira Gran Via on Friday 18th and Saturday 19th June, presenting the festival’s biggest artists and its most technically demanding shows.

Five of 2027’s biggest live shows

Sónar 2027 will feature a new live show from Bonobo, one of the great names in contemporary electronic music, who will present his latest work Distance in Static. One of the great debuts of this edition is Tokischa, a leading figure of Dominican dembow, who comes to Sónar to take the genre out of the neighbourhoods and into the spotlight, blending it with reggaeton and rap.

Also on the bill are Yung Lean -icon of an entire generation and the viral phenomenon who defined the sound of cloud rap in the 2010s-, British artist Jessie Ware -a reference point for Studio 54 and 80s Ibiza turned pop icon and champion of the groove of disco music- and Japanese artist Cornelius -who now comes to Sónar to present his new album Refractions, released last August-.

DJs who defined -and keep defining- an era

More than two decades on, Sónar welcomes back Carl Cox, one of the most important DJs in the history of electronic music and club culture. Also on the bill are South Korean artist Peggy Gou, now the most popular and influential DJ of the moment, and Dutch artist KI/KI, who has established herself as the leading reference in this decade’s trance revival.

Also stepping into the booth are the ever-euphoric Romy, member of the revered band The xx, and Oscar Mulero, who will bring his cerebral, introspective techno back to Sónar 20 years on. Honey Dijon will show her side closest to the Detroit-born genre with her project Sinister. Speedy J will return following the success of STOOR Live to improvise live, this time over the vinyl discs of Chris Liebing in their joint project Collabs3000. The hardest-hitting groove will come from Funk Assault -the union of Alarico and Chlär-, while the most classic electronic sounds will sit alongside hip-hop, electro and perhaps even r&b in the four-handed set by Busy P -founder of Ed Banger, the cult label that has worked with artists such as Daft Punk and Air- alongside Mexican artist Girl Ultra -who brings Latin r&b and the synths and guitars of new wave to the club floor-. Aurora Halal live will serve up the most introspective contemporary techno, and Ehua & Flore will go for bass, broken beats, sonic craftsmanship and soundsystem culture.

Club culture in all its forms

The emo culture arrives from New York via Frost Children, the duo made up of the Prost siblings who blend EDM, electro and pop to talk about dependence, perseverance and change, with an energy that goes beyond nostalgia. After the collarbone injury that prevented him from coming in 2026, Goldie will perform live in 2027, delivering the dose of original jungle and drum’n’bass promised last year.

The Dutch contingent is completed for now by the great collector Job Jobse, who -incredibly- makes his festival debut. Two artists who aren’t debuting but will play together at Sónar for the first time are the master of hypnotic techno Donato Dozzy and the unstoppable bass music producer Batu. The commitment to the club’s most underground sounds is rounded out by Georgian artist SALOME and her take on electro, techno and acid, and the eclectic Tash LC, who can move from soukous to kuduro and on to soca, championing the rhythms of the global south.

Berlin-based Japanese artists Alex Kassian and Hiroaki OBA will bring their expansive project Opal Sunn to Sónar for the first time, adding dub and ambient on their latest releases to their usual blend of expansive chords, deep bass and large doses of groove. Chinese-Canadian selector Yu Su with her hypnotic sound; Kaitlyn Aurelia Smith with her sophisticated live show, blending gentle drum’n’bass foundations with hyperpop melodies and vocals and unconventional synths; and veteran techno DJ Adriana Lopez with her old drum’n’bass alias Suut will also be part of the Sónar 2027 line-up.

The ever raw, ironic and magnetic TK MAMI will show off her trap, glo and jerk universe, presenting her freshly released album TK MAMI UNIVERSITY. A tribute to old reggaeton comes from Granada-born Kristina, true to the genre’s bold sensuality in the 21st century. The collective Disobey Sound System is bringing the freshest urban sounds from Madrid -and from the internet- to booths across Spain and, now, to Sónar’s too. And Zaragoza-born Drizzyclare will show off the breadth of sounds and influences that have taken her to stations such as Rinse FM and NTS, always indifferent to any musical flag or border.
