Nahoomie is without a doubt, one of the most striking talents to emerge from Barcelona recently. SonarMix 066 shows exactly why, with the Catalan artist exploring “the most expansive version” of her sound, playing with “different textures, melodies and rhythms, while maintaining the soulful, house-centric vibe” that she’s known for.

“I wanted to start with a warmer and more inviting atmosphere, before gradually increasing the intensity, mixing different genres that go from classic (vocal-heavy) sounds, to more modern, electronic productions, plus the occasional breakbeat.”

Throughout the mix, she includes tracks that have been essential in her own journey as an artist. ‘Bad All By Myself’ by Kenny Carpenter & Stephanie Cooke and ‘Deep In The Underground’ by Da Mooch are songs that have accompanied her since her beginnings, she tells us, reflecting her “connection with soulful, garage house”.

“For me, music is a bridge between my roots, my influences and what I want to become,” adds, noting that Sónar has been a “very meaningful” place for her. “It largely led to my personal transcendence with electronic music, and also helped me find the concept of ‘partying’ with which I identify”.

Catch her at Sónar by Day on Thursday 12th June, where she’ll be looking to “transmit that same feeling of connection to people” with a session designed to help them “lose themselves in the magic of the music”.
