From Rosalía and Bad Gyal to Daft Punk and Pet Shop Boys. From Björk and Aphex Twin to Miss Kittin and Jeff Mills. Just some of the moments from the history of the festival that will be shared with all of Barcelona on Monday night.

On Monday 25th of September at 10pm, the firework display of La Mercè 2023 will draw the curtain on the city’s biggest party in front of thousands of people, featuring a tribute to the music and artists that have appeared at Sónar over the past 30 editions.

Av. Maria Cristina, just next to Fira Montjuïc (the Sónar by Day venue), will be the location for a spectacular firework display, accompanied by 30 minutes of music selected by Sónar. The mix has been edited, produced and mastered by Phran, a Venezuelan producer and DJ based in Barcelona, and a regular at the festival.

The spectacle, organised by the Ajuntament de Barcelona via the Institut de Cultura (ICUB), will take a global trip through sounds, voices, and rhythms from all five continents; both an intercultural journey and a huge party soundtracked by classic tracks from some of the most legendary artists of our time.

It will feature hits from local artists like RosalíaMaria ArnalDesert, and Bad Gyal, as well as from international stars such as Daft PunkKraftwerkBjörkBad BunnyNathy PelusoPet Shop Boys, and Grace Jones. Plus the biggest names in dance music, including Todd TerjeMiss KittinLaurent Garnier, and Jeff Mills. In total, the show will feature extracts from over 50 songs from some of the most important artists in the history of electronic music, all of whom have appeared at Sónar over the past 30 years. It’s a celebration of the special bond that the festival has held with the city of Barcelona since 1994.

The Piromusical at La Mercè 2023 can be experienced in person on Av. Maria Cristina and can be watched live on TV3 (the Catalonian TV channel) or streamed live at lamerce.barcelona and sonar.es.
