Why’s it interesting?

For its third edition, +RAIN, the first European film festival dedicated entirely to cinema made using AI, returns bigger and better than ever. Spread across four days between the Universitat Pompeu Fabra’s Poblenou campus, the CCCB and Sónar+D, the festival continues to focus on experiments with both cinema and narrative. 

As well as maintaining a critical eye on the social and ethical dilemmas this technology presents, this year’s edition lifts the curtain on the creative processes of directors using AI in cinema. 

At Sónar+D, two sessions will be open to the public. SUMMIT covers perspectives on research, art, entrepreneurship, industry and society developments, offering an opportunity to hear about new developments, get to know emerging talent, and participate in discussions on the complex relationship between AI and creativity. New this year, SCREENING invites the Sónar+D audience to a special screening of this year’s prize-winning films.
