If a triangle had the word “techno” in one corner and “Spain” in another, we’d all know whose name belonged in the third. Since the mid-80s, when he started DJing in Madrid’s most underground clubs, Oscar Mulero’s career has hit milestones like legendary sessions at The Omen and About Discipline and Education, the first mix CD ever released in Spain.
He has released music on labels such as Tresor, Token and Semantica, played the most prestigious clubs and festivals in the world, and built two key platforms for Spanish techno: Warm Up Recordings and PoleGroup.
While his experimental ambient project ‘Monochrome’ came to Sónar in 2018, his cerebral, dark, precise, and uncompromising techno hasn’t echoed through the festival’s walls since 2007. And frankly, it’s been long enough.
