Raw, fluid, and intimate explorations of Afro-Latin music and identity from this rising Galician-Brazilian artist, who recently got tapped to collaborate with Nathy Peluso

Influenced by the likes of SZA, Beyoncé and Nina Simone, Lua de Santana is charting her own course. Her songs are hard to categorise - a mix of pop, club music, and soul - complex enough to get lost in, but simple enough to ignite a dancefloor. Listen to her breakthrough 2024 EP Ginga and you can hear tradition - there are flamenco-like flourishes in the title track - and modernity - PiRi PiRi takes vocal cues from baile funk MCs - in equal parts. You’ll want to say you were there when she played Sónar by Night for the first time - it probably won’t be the last.
