The great drum’n’bass legend settles his debt with Sónar

Few names are as closely tied to the history of jungle and drum’n’bass as Goldie. A graffiti artist in 80s Britain, in love with hip hop and breakdancing, and the craftsman behind his iconic gold teeth in New York, Clifford Price became one of the first big stars of rave culture thanks to his fusion of breakbeats, orchestral textures and emotionally charged vocals.

After his first steps as Rufige Kru, in 1994 he co-founded Metalheadz, the label that would become a cornerstone of the genre, releasing artists such as Photek and Source Direct. A year later came Timeless, his debut album, which reached number seven in the UK charts and is regarded as a landmark in electronic music. Its signature track, “Inner City Life”, ranks number 12 on Billboard’s list of the 100 Best Dance Songs of All Time. In 2026, he also opened a new chapter with the single “Jungle Daze”, featuring jazz vocalist Natalie Williams.

Goldie was due to play Sónar 2026, but a shoulder injury forced him to cancel. He owed us this one… and he’s coming to make up for it in style: live.
