To talk about Arnau Obiols is to talk about partying and Barcelona. There are countless nights in which the Catalan has made the city dance until dawn. But what many people probably don’t know is that the story of this DJ began far from the booth, first as a drummer for the British cult band Television Personalities, and then for his compatriots Cat’s Eyes. Obiols’ music has been played by greats such as Gilles Peterson, Roman Flügel and Laurent Garnier himself (whom we will also see at Sónar 2024), while he, as a DJ, has worked in venues and festivals here and there. Where will his music selection go this time? Impossible to guess, especially considering that he will open Sónar by Night 2024 just before another cult band, Air, perform live their acclaimed Moon Safari.
