The best dance music has always been made by the freaks. And it doesn’t get much freakier than techno renegades FJAAK and electroclash misfit Kittin.
Few live acts feel as ‘live’ as FJAAK. Their everything-but-the-kitchen-sink approach to genre - 2-step, techno, jungle, breakbeat, acid, ambient, ‘powerhouse’... - and constant tweaking of their studio setup lends an electric, anarchic energy to everything they do. And while they’re not running illegal raves in Berlin’s Grunewald forest anymore (at least not to our knowledge), they’re still refusing to adhere to industry norms: Check their latest record, a sprawling, 23-track epic called FJAAK THE SYSTEM (what else?) for proof.
Kittin has been tearing up the rulebook since the 90s, so she knows a thing or two about controlled chaos. Bringing together the outsider spirit of punk and the off-the-wall creativity of new wave with techno and house’s rebellious, revolutionary promise, she’s forged her own path through music. Already familiar with FJAAK (together with her long-time collaborator The Hacker she remixed Mechanic Love), she’ll be a perfect sparring partner for the Spandau duo.
Both have stayed true to dance music’s original blueprint - freaky music made by freaks for other freaks to dance to - so who knows what will go down when they take to the stage at Sónar 2026.
