Understanding why Mercury always seems to be in retrograde, and what that means for you and the world in general
Why’s it interesting?
Alice Sparkly Kat and Manuka Honey (Marissa Malik) represent a new kind of astrology, which looks beyond advice on your love life, horoscopes or other clichés.
Alice has written a book, Postcolonial Astrology, which offers a radical new perspective on astrology, integrating queer, intersectional feminist thought and providing context on the politicised history of astrology in the Western world. Manuka Honey is well-known as a DJ and producer (she appeared at Sónar back in 2023), but she’s also one of the UK’s leading authorities on diasporic magic and modern witchcraft, including astrology and tarot.
Their conversation will explore the role that astrology plays today, noting the fundamental role it has taken in the practice of various artists and figures within the cultural world. They’ll also examine cultural, mystical, and political perspectives associated with using the stars to both predict the future and turn our gaze inwards.
