The word global gets thrown around a lot in electronic music, but few represent it better than Lady Shaka and Tash LC. Both members of London’s free-flowing dance music underground, they share a love of rhythm, percussion and a passion for music that transcends borders and nationalities.
Lady Shaka uses music to rep her heritage - she was born in Aeteora (New Zealand) and has Māori, Pacific Island and Cape Verdean ancestry - and the queer community. If you’re looking for an introduction, 2024 single “E Tu” is a gateway into her world, flipping a sample from an early 2000s Māori R&B classic with a driving, addictive house beat.
For Tash LC, London’s vibrant afro-caribbean diaspora is a constant source of inspiration, from kuduro and merengue to soca and soukous. A long-time NTS radio resident, she’s also the brains behind Club Yeke, a combined label, event series and radio show that spotlights and collaborates with artists from across the Global South diaspora.
Expect a truly worldwide affair when these two get together at Sónar 2026.
