Who exactly are ⌭ IceMorph ⌬? Even we’re not exactly sure: they declined to send us an artist bio, and the only photos we’ve got are the ones of their online avatars.
The UK duo - their name is a composite of their individual handles, Ice Wing and Benomorph - are purportedly the minds behind CloudCore, a loose digital collective dedicated to exploring unconventional club music. Coordinated via their discord channel, they release tracks sourced from the community on a weekly basis over on their Bandcamp page, with the catch that every release except the most recent one is priced at £999. This collectible mentality extends to their social media presence, with each appearance and release marked with a trading-card style image.
But what makes ⌭ IceMorph ⌬ more than just another internet hype story is the music: glitchy, warped club cuts that sound like Four Tet suffering a catastrophic hard drive meltdown. This is the futuristic dance music we were promised, a sticky blend of hypercolour speed garage, candy-coated pop hooks, and reprocessed fragments from the hardcore continuum.
