It’s always golden hour somewhere, and wherever it is, Carlita’s probably playing. The Turkish-born selector and producer plays and makes music that just feels right for the hours before sundown or right after sunrise: groovy, psychedelic house music that stretches out like late-afternoon shadows.
A musician before she was a DJ, having studied cello and piano from a young age, her productions have the ‘classic’ feel that comes from using real instruments and samples, but with a modern touch. With swooning strings, languid basslines and soulful vocals, her sound falls somewhere in those hazy areas between melodic techno and throwback house.
Her trademark bucket hat has gone everywhere from Ibiza to Burning Man, while her globetrotting event series Senza Fine sees her invite artists she admires - from Astra Club partner DJ Tennis and techno superstar Anfisa Letyago to the likes of Sally C, Paurro, and Bradley Zero - to play in smaller capacity venues from Paris and London to New York and Lisbon. We can’t wait to hear what she’s got in store for Sónar in June.
