Returning to Sónar+D for the second year running, in 2026 Japanese producer Asada, will unveil the second chapter of the Wabi Sabi Music project. The first chapter explored the concept of wabi sabi, a Japanese term for finding beauty in the imperfection and impermanence of sound, while this year the focus shifts to  the Japanese philosophical concept of MA (the in-between), the space that exists between two differing poles: technology and art, organic intelligence and artificial intelligence, the real world and the imagined world. 

Renowned for work that fuses electronic soundscapes with acoustic elements, Yusuke Asade explores the idea of MA not as an empty void or solid boundary, but as a dynamic, creative space for sonic innovation. Part lecture and part live demonstration, this session will attempt to answer a fundamental question: What emerges from MA?
