Good luck trying to tear yourself away from a LOVEFOXY set in full swing. The Berlin artist - real name Fania Folaji - matches classic Detroit and Chicago house cuts with can’t-look-away stage presence. How many other DJs have you seen climb onto the decks wearing stiletto heels while seamlessly mixing a classic Kerri Chandler cut into Floorplan?
Behind her stratospheric rise there’s decades of house music heritage. Her mum helped run Berlin’s first house club, Tempelhof, in the mid-80s after moving to the German capital from Nigeria. She also served as session vocalist, even appearing on an early Paul Van Dyk record. No surprise that Fania spent her youth sneaking into Berlin’s many clubs and sampling the city’s nightlife.
That early house music education got put to one side - she won a scholarship to a dance school in Barcelona, where she trained in classical ballet - until the lockdown came around. Irish DJ Sally C pushed her to learn to mix, giving her weekly lessons using her mum’s impressive collection of Detroit techno and classic Chicago house.
Fast-forward a few years and she’s one of house music’s hottest talents, having released an EP on cult New York label Nervous Records and toured the globe. We’re proud to have her at Sónar 2026, representing a new generation of house music.
