You can count on one hand the number of electronic artists who are bigger than Dom Dolla right now. The Australian’s rise to the very top of dance music has echoed the time-honoured adage of ‘gradually, then absolutely meteoric’.
What started with a copy of Basement Jaxx’ Rooty quickly turned into weekends organising parties at local pubs, and evenings spent producing his own tracks. And then that turned into quitting his steady job as a graphic designer to try and make it in music. And that quickly became selling out stadiums, remixing Gorillaz and recording a pop-house smash hit with Swedish star Tove Lo.
What ties it all together is the infectious sense of fun. Whether he’s pulling from millennial blog house, UK garage, or mainstream pop, Dolla sounds like he’s having the time of his life. Armed with a brand new AV show, he’ll make his Sónar debut this year. Why not join him for the ride?
