Dr. Kate Darling is perhaps the world’s leading expert on robot ethics. A researcher and scientist at MIT’s Media Lab, she investigates the evolving relationships between humans and life-like machines, a subject of increasing importance as AI seeps into our daily lives. When she’s not writing books or talking about her work with media outlets ranging from The New Yorker and The Atlantic to the BBC, NPR and The Guardian, she conducts experiments to explore how we experience human to robot interactions, focusing on the emotional connection we form with machines. For Sónar+D 2023, she’ll deliver a talk that looks at the future relationships - social, ethical, legal - between humans and our robot creations.
