A pop music fever dream

Growing up in a small suburban town near Tokyo where the closest thing to entertainment was a mall, Japanese SoundCloud rapper Tohji made his own culture. His music is the manifestation of that fever dream, euphoric 90s eurodance and digital pop music covered with a glossy video game sheen. Part J-pop and part dance music - his latest record features Palmistry, Yeule, as well as Staycore’s Mechatok and Drain Gang’s Bladee - it’s equally luxurious and joyous, the sound of not quite abandoned teenage nostalgia. At Sónar 2023, come dive into his unique, beautiful world - while it lasts.
