French-Algerian producer and vocalist Sabrina Bellaouel draws on a variety of influences when making her forward-thinking R&B. Her Berber heritage, Muslim faith and passion for astrology meets J-Dilla flavoured hip-hop, field recordings, and tender strings and woodwinds. Her forthcoming album ‘Al Hadr’, due to be released on storied French label InFiné on 3rd March 2023, fuses all these elements with electronic music, a backdrop for her lyrical explorations of identity and ancestry. At Sónar 2023, she’ll perform a new live set featuring some advanced creative technology.
