The sounds of Colombia have always had a place in Lucrecia Dalt’s heart, and in her work. For her latest record ‘¡Ay!’, the Berlin-based musician set about recontextualising and reimagining the soundtrack to her childhood in Pereira (a small city about 200 miles from Bogotá) in her own unique way. A surreal and dreamy piece of work that unites science-fiction storytelling and tropical rhythms, it also revealed a more explicitly personal side to the experimental artist’s music. Expect a live show that’s both philosophical and percussive at Sónar 2023.
