Barcelona’s Pan-African diaspora
If Jokkoo didn't exist, you’d have to make it, because without them Barcelona wouldn’t be the same. The collective, based in the Catalan capital, was born from the desire of its members to investigate and spread the word about forward-thinking and alternative African electronic music. Its six members - Baba Sy, Maguette Dieng (MBODJ), Oscar Tylor (Opoku), Nicolas Belliot (Mookie), Ismäel Ndiaey (B4mba) and Miriam Camara (TNTC) - share a common goal: the establishment of both hybrid black electronic hybrid music and diasporic narratives within the global music community. Following an artistic residency in Kenya, they’ll present their work at an audiovisual show at Sónar+D, in front of the entire Sónar by Day audience.
