It’s always been about more than just music for Steve Goodman (Kode9) and Camae Ayewa (Moor Mother).
Since the inception of his label Hyperdub, Goodman has pursued narratives ofimagined and possible futures, within and outside of his forward-thinking club music. That culminated in 2021 with the release of his Astro-Darien project, which explores a future where Scotland secedes from the UK and heads to the stars.
Moor Mother’s work - across various projects and collaborations - explores radical black thought via hip-hop, spoken word and jazz. She founded Black Quantum Futurism, a collective dedicated to exploring futurism, activism and creative possibilities in marginalised communities through a different temporal lens.
At Sónar+D, the pair will deliver readings from their own works and participate in a moderated conversation discussing the role that speculative fiction and futurism plays in their creative processes.
