One of the UK’s most bafflingly underrated and consistently forward-thinking producers, Ikonika has been quietly expanding the definition of club music since the late 2000s. On releases for Hyperdub, Night Slugs and Planet Mu, she combined digital dub and bashment with colourful R&B hooks, and irresistible 8-bit melodies. She’s long transcended the ‘post-dubstep’ label, with her releases over the past decade incorporating UK Drill, grime, and now amapiano. It’s the latter that she’ll bring to Sónar by Night, for a live show based on her latest EP ‘Bubble Up’.
