Grievous Bodily Harmonics brings together Rian Treanor and Elias Merino, two artists who use advanced software to challenge almost every paradigm of electronic music. ‘Melting Smile’ sees them perform together for the very first time after 10 years of sporadic collaborations, for a show that’s part improvised live performance and part algorithmically generated audio. Or as they describe it, “extreme generative synthesis, oblique pattern deformation and random acts of computational vandalism.. creating illusory materials at the border of pulse, rhythm and (non)repetition”. In other words, expect the kind of sonic assault that will leave you feeling both bruised and confused.
