A soft, soulful and empowered voice
When Erika de Casier released Sensational - her second full-length record - in 2021, The Guardian wrote that while her music "looks to the past it’s made by an artist too original to be labelled a revivalist". Prior to that her debut album, 2019’s Essentials had already introduced her to the world as a breath of fresh air, putting the R&B of the late 90s and early 2000s back on the musical map. With a slight modern twist: the Danish artist uses her soft, soulful voice to challenge the stereotypes associated with women, in a determined exercise of empowerment.
