Belgium’s outsized contribution to electronic music is well-documented, but the tiny nation’s sly sense of humour often flies under the radar. It’s that wit that makes Charlotte Adigéry & Bolis Pupul’s electro-pop stand out, the duo skewering racism, colonialism and sexism over deft appropriations of pop, post-punk, disco and dance music. They’ll bring their debut album Topical Dancer (co-produced and released by their countrymen Soulwax on their DEEWEE label) to Sónar for a playful, prickly and punky live show.
