In the internet age, the boundaries between different forms of creative practice are increasingly blurred. Taiwan’s veeeky is the embodiment of this free-form artistic spirit: a tech-savvy multimedia artist, DJ and coder who operates at the frontier between the digital and the real. While her husband, Beijing producer and DJ Howie Lee has made a name for himself with his blending of contemporary and traditional Asian music, veeeky’s work expands on that template. It’s hybrid both in terms of format and content, exploring both contemporary Asian culture and ‘post-internet’ aesthetics. Her visual and digital artworks have been exhibited across the world, and she’s shared stages with similarly minded musicians Kode9 and Scratcha DVA. At Sónar 2022 she’ll bring together her musical and visual practices, with a narrative live set that explores themes of technology and fantasy, the real and the hyperreal.
