A political party
Many artists claim to want to deconstruct club music - LSDXOXO bulldozes it and rebuilds it in his own image. Emerging from a revitalised Brooklyn rave scene - he first made a name for himself at Venus X’s culture clashing GHE20G0TH1K parties - he collaborated with transgressive, forward thinking rappers like bbmytha and Cakes Da Killa. Recently, he’s stepped on his own, with 2020’s before stepping out on his own in recent years, highlighted by his latest EP Dedicated 2 Disrespect for XL Recordings. As the credentials might suggest, Raushaan Glasgow’s party is always political - his sets are fierce reclamations of the dancefloor as a black, queer, revolutionary space. Channelling the lurid filth of Dance Mania and the fierceness of the ballroom - “between sexy and messy” reads the bio - he adds a dotcom pop sensibility that’s all of his own. For Sónar 2022, he’ll perform a new live set that moves his self-styled ‘url-production’ methods further towards a more visceral, analogue and musical direction. Look out, this will be something special.
