Like no dance performance you’ve ever seen before
In October 2021, creative studio Hamill Industries, dancer and choreographer Kiani Del Valle and researchers Stefano Rosso, Martí de Castro and Javier Ruiz from the UPC (Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya) presented “Engendered Otherness - A symbiotic AI dance ensemble” at S+T+ARTS AI and Music Festival. The collaborative project - a “co-creation” - brought together three leaders in their respective fields for a unique audiovisual choreography experience. Using AI technology from the UPC, world-renowned visual artists Hamill Industries - best known for their work for Floating Points - captured Kiani Del Valle’s movements used them to train a troupe of digital AI ‘dancers’ that accompanied her live choreography. Now, after further months of refinement and improvement, they bring a new version of the show to SonarComplex for Sónar +D 2022. A visually stunning and dynamic performance that’s like nothing you’ve ever seen before.
