A little charisma goes a long way in electronic music, especially under the mid-June sun in Barcelona. Gela brings just that. Starting her career as a DJ in bars in Murcia, the region in the south of Spain where she grew up, where she started out mixing disco, acid house or warmer shades of techno. From old-skool styles to spacey or even Brazilian sounds, her palette of influences is wide, and tends towards leftfield. From Murcia she moved to Madrid, and her passport has since been filled with stamps from clubs across the world: London’s Corsica Studios, Wilden Renate in Berlin, and closer to home, Razzmatazz and Dabadaba. Today, she mixes a multitude of styles, drawing on her extensive collection of music - on vinyl and digital - and showing why she’s a rising talent in the Spanish scene. Sónar by Day will be the perfect stage to introduce her to a wider audience.
