Deep and unpredictable reggaeton
Young Andalucian producer GAZZI has had a productive couple of years. In 2020, he dropped his first album, “In The Club”, a record that wandered through a night out, echoes of r’n’b and latinx rhythms drifting in and out of focus. Evoking the gauzy rushes of J-Dilla as much as it did the deep reggaeton of DJ Python, he followed up with two different releases in 2021. “Ella” is a bright, upbeat EP that leans harder into latinx styles, while the Granadan’s second LP, “I know you’ll be there” finds a sweet spot between echoing reflections and twinkling rushes of dancefloor energy - not unlike Four Tet at his most evocative. Where he’ll go next is anyone’s guess. An immensely intriguing talent, one to watch at Sónar 2022.
