Lo-fi post-punk crafted during lockdown
The history of Depresión Sonora is as short as it is promising. Marcos Crespo - the name behind the project - uploaded his first five songs to the internet in May 2020, during the first lockdown. What started as his escape route, a way of escaping the four walls of his bedroom, quickly racked up millions of plays. Organically and independently, his music became the soundtrack to a particularly dark year for many. Drawing from Russian post-punk and commercial pop, the Depresión Sonora sound is both classic and modern, using drums and guitars in an offbeat way. New music is on the way, and is sure to find an audience when played out during his concert at Sónar by Day.
