Web3 is the buzzword of 2022. But what does it really mean, beyond ‘decentralisation’ and ‘individual ownership’? Bas Grasmayer and Kaitlyn Davies will help Sónar+D Lisboa get to grips with the practicalities of the web3 revolution, putting concrete foundations underneath the ever-evolving cloud of ideas, cryptic acronyms and well-worn clichés that characterise this next phase of the internet. 
 
Bas Grasmayer is a digital strategist, and founder of the MUSIC x newsletter. He’s also the Community Platform Lead for creative talent agency COLORS. Kaitlyn Davies works at the cutting edge of music and technology, exploring that nexus through research and community organising with her CO:QUO collective.
 
‘What you really need to know about web3’ is a double session: first, a workshop where the participants will mint their first NFT, and second a masterclass designed to help participants understand the potential and possibilities of web3 technology - beyond minting NFTs - covering digital ownership and the inherently communal philosophy underlying decentralisation.
