Advanced turntablism

A creator of soundscapes that explore the sonic possibilities of the record player, Feshareki is not your every day turntablist. Throwing hip hop tropes of scratching and cutting out the window, the work of this Royal College of Music graduate builds up fascinating layers of sound from forgotten film soundtracks and the cutting edge of deconstructed club music, using the physicality of the turntable along with a barrage of off board analogue effects to create something thrillingly, captivatingly new.

A composer and artist Shiva Feshareki occupies an exciting space in contemporary music, as can be evidenced from her performances at Mutek Montreál and Moscow’s museum of modern art, as well as her radio show on NTS. Having worked with orchestras in Denmark and Lyon, she is on the verge of releasing her debut album, which shares the name of her radio show - New Forms.
