Sónar by Night - SonarLab - Resident Advisor

We came to party

Set an alarm, tell your friends, write it on your arm: Saturday 20th July, the Resident Advisor SonarLab will host one of the most hotly anticipated b2b sessions in Sónar history as Louie Vega and Honey Dijon take over the decks for one of the festival’s closing sets. We can’t think of a better close to the festival than this meeting of the minds between New York and Chicago’s finest selectors, who between them trace the history of US club music. Expect soul, funk, house, disco, latin beats and ghetto basslines until the sun comes up.

Honey Dijon started her career in Chicago, as an assiduous fan, and close friend of many of the Chi-House scenes’ luminaries. Making the move from the dancefloor to behind the decks, and from Chicago to New York, today she is one of the most in-demand DJ’s in the world, playing regularly at Smart Bar, Output, Panorama Bar and Subclub to name just a few. Gifted with exquisite taste, and an encyclopedic knowledge and passion for dance music history, her sets are talked about in hushed tones for weeks after.

The same can undoubtedly be said for Louie Vega. Half of the legendary production duo Masters at Work (who took over SonarCar in 2017), Vega is responsible for some of the most loved gospel and funky house tracks of all time, from the Nuyorican Soul compilation through to the classic “Work” - still destroying dancefloors 25 years later. With these two in charge, good times are guaranteed.
