Sónar by Day - SonarHall
Under the pseudonym Lomepal, Antoine Valentinelli has become a bona fide sensation in his native France. Part of this success is down to his astonishing recent LP Jeannine, dedicated to his grandmother of the same name who suffered from schizophrenia and who died in 2000, and takes mental health as its overarching theme. The willingness to tackle such subject matter is proof alone that Lomepal is not your everyday rapper. A natural, deep reaching flow, over beats produced by the cream of the current French scene - Stwo, Mohave and Superpoze - makes the perfect slow release delivery mechanism for Valentinelli’s profound subject matter. And while his lyrics are sung in French, anyone with an open mind and ear for music can appreciate the gravity of his proposal. His show at SonarHall will be his debut show in Spain, and one of our highlights of the daytime programming.
The Parisian MC from the 13th arrondissement has been rhyming and creating for the better part of a decade, with two records and 5 eps to his name so far. In 2017 he played over 100 concerts, and with 100 million views on his Youtube channel, it’s clear that there’s no better time for him to play Sónar.
