Sónar by Night -
Friday night at SonarClub comes to a close with a set from the Italian count of techno Joseph Capriati. One of the key figures in the minimal techno renaissance of the last few years, the DJ and producer from Caserta has produced some of the scenes’ defining works. Albums such as 2013’s Self-Portrait, released on Adam Beyer’s ever influential Drumcode label, have defined the trends in dark, atmospheric techno that have gone on to define the scene.
While known for his own productions, Capriati is as equally comfortable as a DJ - as 2017’s epic 25hr set at Miami club Heart attests. A master of the transition, with an innate feel for the crowd and the subtle peaks and troughs that make a night into an unforgettable experience, it’s no wonder that electronic heavyweights such as Joey Beltram and DJ Pierre have looked to him for remixes; or that he was handpicked by Richie Hawtin for his legendary label, Plus 8.
