Underpinning the global spread of Latinx music is the talent and work ethic of artists such as Jesse Baez. Born in Chicago and raised in Guatemala, this young artist’s love of R&B can be heard in everything he does, a veneration to which he adds his own particular swag. No stranger to Spain or to Spanish artists either, Baez has toured with C.Tangana, contributing to two of his biggest hits, the inescapable “Facil” and “No Eres Tu”. His own “Apaga la Luz” also became an international club hit after being remixed by Alizzz. Fans should also turn to his inspired covers of hits by Partynextdoor or The Weeknd (Decile in particular riffs on Tell Your Friends), as well as his latest EP Turbo, which counts with Dillon Francis and Fuego among its co-signs. Baez is set to follow this up with “Nitro”, a release which is almost guaranteed to add even more fuel to the fuego at SonarXS.
