Diego Navarro’s expansive and immersive sound design has marked him out at the forefront of european experimental ambient composers. Inspired in equal parts by videogame soundtracks (Ecco the Dolphin is a clear reference point in last year’s aquatic Vessels), The vaporwave of James Ferraro and 70’s synth-prog, his records are living, breathing explorations of the world in sound, where tribal percussions emerge from behind lapping waves, and pads emulate celestial choirs or the sun breaking from behind the clouds. These ideas will form the core of his opening set at SonarVillage.
