A founder member of Lisbon’s Buraka Som Sistema, the producer Branko has spent a lifetime exploring the possibilities of African derived rhythms, instruments and melodies, and mapping them onto potent electronic bass. In this pursuit he’s had a hand in both promoting local scenes to a global audience - Angolan Kuduro, Congotronics and Baile Funk to name only a few - and in crafting some of the most celebrated tracks in dance music history.

As a solo artist, Branko released his first mixtape ‘Drums Slums & Hums’ in 2013, followed two years later by the aptly named Atlas. Featuring collaborations from Princess Nokia, DJ Sliink and Skip and Die, the LP further cemented Branko’s reputation as a truly global producer, following the rhythm across the world, and making a lot of people dance in the process. In this vein, his forthcoming LP ‘Nosso’ - which will form the basis of his set at SonarVillage - will be accompanied by an A/V live show constructed from footage shot on his travels in search of the perfect beat.
