Sónar by Day - SonarComplex
Iceland continues to provide the world with extraordinarily talented musicians, a list currently headed up by Ólafur Arnalds who has traversed the island's borders to reach a global audience. Arnalds moves with consummate ease between soundtracks, classical music, pop and electronica and is a master of strings, pianos and synthesizers. He will return to Sónar in 2018 to present his new album accompanied by an instrumentalist ensemble, especially put together for this next phase in his career. Árnalds has been incessantly working for a decade, participating in all kinds of projects both solo and alongside other musicians. He has toured with Sígur Ros, collaborated with 65daysofstatic and Nils Frahm (with whom he recorded several tracks) and has composed cinema scores ("The Hunger Games", "Gimme Shelter"), television series ("Broadchurch") and dance piece ("Dyad 1909"). His new album is due for release in the near future and he has reissued his first LP, "Eulogy For Evolution", 2007, which has been re-mastered by Frahm. He also, of course, formed part of the hugely popular Kiasmos project together with Janus Rassmussen, who performed at Sónar two years ago.
