    Sónar by Day - SonarXS

Visceral and Universal

Amobi has astonished us with his sonorous investigations charged with noise and political commentary for a number of years, but it is only in the last year that Chino Amobi has definitively revealed himself to be an essential artist when it comes to dissecting today's global cutting edge sounds. The reason for this is "Paradiso", a strange, abrasive and fascinating album, an explosive cocktail of world beats, industrial techno, ambient, metal and noise, considered to be 2017's best album by the prestigious British magazine Wire. Amobi will present his work live at SonarXS, the perfect stage and setting from which he will impart the power and force of his sound. It is likely to be one of Sónar by Day's most intense experiences and should not be missed.

Based in Richmond (Virginia), Amobi's activity moves beyond his releases and work as a producer. He is founder of the NON Worldwide collective, made up of experimental musicians from the African diaspora - many of them, like himself, living in the United States - who reject mass culture and current political conditions. He is also a multi-disciplinary and visionary artist who has no problem crossing avant-garde sounds with Adorno's philosophical theories. His magnetic character has enabled him to bring together an assortment of interesting artists including Elysia Crampton, Dutch E. Germ, Nkisi and Rabit, all of whom collaborated on "Paradiso".
